A Foundation Built on Love and Partnership

Marriage is often the cornerstone of a fulfilling life. For 40 years, the bond shared with First Lady Carolyn Middlebrook has been a source of strength and inspiration. This partnership has supported every step of the journey, providing encouragement and shared values that fuel a passion for service.

The commitment to family and faith creates a strong foundation. It is this foundation that makes the hard work worthwhile and meaningful. When your heart is in what you do, every challenge becomes an opportunity to grow and give back.

A Career Marked by Dedication and Growth

Spending 30 years with Nucor Corporation, a leader in the steel industry, provided not only a career but a platform to develop leadership skills and a strong work ethic. Retirement from such a long tenure is not an end but a transition to new ways of contributing.

The experience gained in the corporate world translates into valuable lessons for community involvement. Discipline, teamwork, and strategic thinking are essential tools that help in leading organizations and initiatives beyond the workplace.

Serving the Community Through Leadership Roles

Leadership is about more than holding titles; it’s about making a positive impact. Serving on the board of New Mt Olive Church and acting as Associate Pastor reflects a deep commitment to spiritual guidance and community support.

Other leadership roles include:

  • Chairman of the Board of Blytheville Community Samaritans

  • Past Chairman of the Board of First Tee of Northeast Arkansas

  • Past Chairman of the Board of Unity Way of Northeast Arkansas

  • Past Vice-Chair of Great River Medical Center

  • Past Board Member of Mid-South Health System

  • Past Board Member of Blytheville Chamber of Commerce

Each position brought unique challenges and opportunities to serve different facets of the community. These roles required balancing vision with practical action, always keeping the well-being of others at the forefront.

Founding Ministries and Community Groups

Creating new organizations is a powerful way to address unmet needs. Founding PraiseOn! Global Ministry and Us- Unity For Success demonstrates a proactive approach to fostering unity and spiritual growth.

Co-founding Concerned Citizens of South Blytheville shows a commitment to grassroots activism and improving local quality of life. These initiatives highlight the importance of taking responsibility and inspiring others to join in making a difference.

Balancing Faith, Family, and Service

The journey of service is deeply intertwined with faith and family. Being a minister of media and associate pastor involves sharing messages that uplift and connect people. It requires empathy, communication skills, and a genuine desire to help others find hope.

Balancing these responsibilities with family life is a continuous effort. The support of a loving spouse and the strength of shared values make it possible to sustain long-term dedication.

Lessons Learned and Advice for Aspiring Leaders

This journey offers several lessons for anyone looking to serve their community and lead with heart:

  • Commit fully to what you love. Passion fuels perseverance.

  • Build strong partnerships. Family and community support are vital.

  • Take on diverse roles. Experience in different areas broadens perspective.

  • Create opportunities. Don’t wait for change; be the change.

  • Lead with humility and empathy. True leadership serves others first.

These principles help maintain focus and effectiveness in any leadership role.

Continuing the Journey

A life of service and dedication is ongoing. Retirement from a corporate career opens doors to new ways of contributing and inspiring others. The journey is not about personal gain but about building a legacy of love, leadership, and community impact.

Every effort, big or small, adds to the collective good. By staying true to what fills the heart, anyone can make a meaningful difference.
